How to Make Kid-Friendly Coaster Valentines

Helping your kid make Valentines this year?  Here is a cute and easy project that you can set up like a kit, and then have a fun and stress-free craft day with the kids.

You are going to need some chipboard coasters from your local restaurant or bar.  You could buy them, but I find restaurants are very generous when you ask "can you spare a few of these coasters for a craft project"?

Let's get our supplies ready;

For each coaster Valentine you will need 2 pieces of cardstock cut to 4" x 4"  and then trimmed with a corner rounder.

The cardstock I am using:

Classic Roses (both sides)

Spring Stripe Glitter (both sides)

Glitter Cardstock - Teal

Glitter Cardstock - Pink

Next, gather up your embellishments.  Each Valentine will be an individual work of art.

Dew Drops - Mardi Gras

Heart Dew Drops

Doillie Die Cuts

Rosy Cards
Glitter Heart Die Cut

Of course you are going to want to include some candy!  Boxed candy hearts and lollipops with long stems.

Attach cardstock to both sides of coaster

Ink edges

Punch 2 Holes along one edge of covered coaster top and bottom (only punch holes for Valentine's that will include a lollipop)

Punch or die cut shapes from Glittered Cardstock (I went with butterflies)

Now it's time to layer on some embellishments -- use as little or as much as you want - based on the age of your kids.

On the Valentine's with punched holes, thread your lolly through. 

 Attach a box of candy hearts to the back of other Valentine's using a pop dot or double sided foam tape.

These Valentine's really go together quickly and easily.

Now go have some craft time with your kids!
