Root root for graduation centerpiece

It's graduation party time and in my house it is extra special this year with my oldest graduating from high school.

Sniff. He was just a toddler last week. Sniff. Sniff.

He may be well on his way to adulthood,  but in one way he is still a kid at heart. He loves root beer. So what better way to celebrate than with a root beer kegger, root beer flavored candy and vintage root beer decorations. Hey, any excuse for a theme party, right?

To make these table centerpieces, first obtain some small galvanized pails. If you watch, you can often find them in Target's Dollar Spot.

Fussy cut a vintage root beer advertising image, and select a Robin's Nest paper that coordinates well with the image.

Print out and scale the pattern below so that it fits your pail. Trace the pattern onto your Robin's Nest paper and cut out.

Wrap the paper around the pail and adhere with hot glue Then, adhere the vintage image to the front of the pail.

Fill the bucket with root beer barrel candy, lollipop and brightly patterned straws. (Helpful Hint: Use a small piece of floral foam in the bottom of the pail to hold the lollipop in place.  Repeat for as many pails as you wish to make.
