Michelle here with a fun project you can make using up leftover holiday tissue paper!
I wanted to make a fun and pretty candle to celebrate the new year.
To make this, you will need:
- Prayer candle
- The Robins Nest assorted Dew Drops
- Brightly colored tissue paper
- Gold washi tape
- Mod Podge, foam brush and paper plate
- Tombo glue
- Craft mat-to protect work surface
- Martha Stewart silicone mat and picker upper (optional)
Remove the price sticker. If there is gummy residue, a clean make up sponge and hand sanitizer works like a charm!
For this candle, since there was a gold stripe at the top, I matched it with two layers of gold washi tape at the bottom to cover the words, "perfume".
I used a chip/dip tray to hold my assorted cut-into-little-squares of tissue paper.
Then I coated the candle with the Mod Podge and began placing the squares of tissue paper.
When I was happy with the design, I went over everything with another coat of the Mod Podge to act as a sealer. This I let dry until not sticky before adding the dew drops.
In sections, I placed dots of the glue in-between the colored squares and let them dry until mostly tacky. Then I added the Dew Drops.
*A friend demonstrated THIS mat at a recent craft event. It's amazing and a must have if you work with Dew Drops and rhinestones as much as I do!
Basically you pour your assortments onto the mat. Naturally they all land upside down, right? But wait, you just lightly drag the flat of your hand over the gems and they all magically turn over!
It will save you lots of frustrating (grrrr) moments.
When you are done, you simply fold the mat and pour your gems back into their container.
Here is another candle I made with ascending strips of tissue paper and coordinating Dew Drops.
Fun idea!!!
