Alaska's Clam Gulch

Hello Readers,

Robin posting today.

I am again sharing our clamming day with you
at Clam Gulch, Alaska.

Our adventure started early in the morning,
and driving an hour from where we were staying
to Clam Gulch.

We arrived just as the sun was rising up above the water.
Beautiful colors in the sky,
I showed those last week!

As we hiked down to the beach with our
buckets and shovels, we discussed how to find
the clams.  Now this sounded much
easier than what it really was.

See us looking at the sand?
We are looking for bubbles in the sand, or
what it looks like when a bubble pops, little holes
in the sand.
When you find some you dig.
Now... we learned quickly that these clams are FAST!
One person digs, the other reaches with their
hands to get the clam.

Here is one of the razor clams.
they can move speedily through the
sand when they feel danger.

Here is the sand, clam in the sand, clam in
Gabe's hand, and Dana and Gabe working together as
a team to find the clams.

Once we discovered how to find the
bubbles/holes in the sand.
it was easy and fun!

When the morning find was over, the guys went fishing,
us girls slept in the car, and shopped, we drove home,
and of all things made the very best ever
clam chowder!!!!!

These products can be found on our
website.

Have a great day!

Ciao,

Robin
