Welcome Wee Ones!

So Many Babies...So Few Cards!

by Ro

I know so many new little people being introduced into the world these past few months. It's amazing! One of them I get to call my granddaughter!  So with all these babies, my card stash is severely lacking and it's time to replenish. And I always say it's just as easy to make 2 or 3 (or 4!) cards as it is to make one. So I made two cards ready to be personalized for some new parents, and I'm happy to share them with you today!

While these cards look complicated, they really aren't. I was able to put them together in a snap. I used a cut file from Silhouette America for mine, but if you don't have a machine to do that, it's super simple to do by hand too. There is a great tutorial for a side step card on Splitcoast Stampers (here) which could very easily be adapted to this card.

For my cards, I first loaded the cutting file, which looked like this.

I cut out my pieces and began the assembly process.

  • Fold on score lines and attach the dresser base. I used Special Delivery Girl and Blue Daisy Stripe.
  • Attach drawers and mat layer for t-shirt (if used). For these I used some solid scrap papers that coordinated with the cardstock for the boy card, and the reverse side of Special Delivery for the girl card.
  • Attach t-shirt and embellish if desired. These were also cut from scrap cardstock.
  • Glue on Dew Drops for drawer knobs (so cute!!!)
And that's it! The wonderful thing about these papers is that they are two-sided, so the inside of your card is basically finished and ready for your sentiment or greeting. Here are a few close-ups so you can see the cute detail!

Dimensional and shaped cards are all the rage, and now that you see how easy they really are, I hope you are inspired to try some for yourself.
