Winter Forest Oval Box

I love the vintage look of Sisal bottle brush trees and what better paper to use them with than the Robin's Nest Winter Collection. I decided to make a winter themed oval box and place a forest of my bottle brush trees and a silhouette of Santa in his sleigh on the top.

The first step was to decide which of the beautiful papers I would use for the outside and inside of the box. When I saw the beautiful swirls and snowflakes in the Winter Retreat Glitter Swirl Cardstock, I could feel the chill in the air and knew that it was perfect for the outside layer. I used the small patterned Winter Dear Glitter Cardstock for the inside layer.

After assembling the oval box, I gathered the embellishments including the Sisal trees in several sizes, Early Dawn Dew Drops, twine, Mica flakes and three glitter chipboard snowflakes.

After wrapping three layers of twine around the top edge of the lid of the oval box, I added my mini forest of Sisal trees and the Mica flakes.

I used my Santa Sleigh print and cut SVG of a Santa image silhouetted against the moon in the sky, gluing the image to the top of the tallest tree.

Next, I added a white dew drop in the center of each snowflake on the box. To finish the scene, I added some Mica flakes and the three glitter chipboard snowflakes around the base of the box.
