I Left My Heart in San Francisco
Between my pictures of San Francisco and the great papers
from
The Robin’s Nest, Wild About U Collection,
I had SO MUCH FUN with this layout!
Even though the pictures are over 5 years old, they made me
yearn for the city I was meant to live in, lol.
I am a hard-core, frugal scrapper. Don’t get me wrong, I buy everything I can
get my hands on.
I am scrapbook POOR!, meaning,
all my money goes to scrapbook and art supplies.
But, that doesn’t keep me from hoarding.
For instance, right here where the Classic Roses paper looks as if it’s 6” wide x 12” tall
and the pictures are laying on top if
it.
Well, it’s actually two pieces of 1”
x 12” butted up next to the pictures.
Yes, I had plenty to put under
it, but it’s just not in me to do that, as much as I try to let go….
By the way, the little wood veneer numbers and geo tag came
as plain colored wood but I used my markers to color them red to match the
layout.
I like using markers as opposed
to paint because they dry so quickly
and they are easy to cover on these tiny
bits.
I rarely put a flat sticker on a layout or a card. I like to make my stickers “POP”.
One easy way to do this is to stick them on a
piece of scrap chip board.
You can use a
piece of cereal box or any sort of packaging you have headed out to the
recycling can.
Just stick it onto the
chipboard. Cut it out, right close to
the edge.
You might want to send the
edges a little smooth.
To make it “POP”
a little more, sponge a little ink around the edges.
I didn’t do it in my layout, but sometimes I
even put some foam tape on the back before I add it to my layout. It makes a huge difference with little
effort.
One of my favorite things to do with Dew Drops is a Quick
Color Change.
With this layout I had
some Chocolate Dew Drops but I wanted them to be a bit darker brown to match perfectly with the brown
hearts in the Valentine Cardstock.
All I had to do was take my alcohol
marker and color them.
Here, you can see the AFTER and BEFORE.
You can even color Clear Dew Drops
and color them any color you need.
I’ve been a huge fan a chipboard for years.
Gina’s Design’s has some great pieces for us to play with this month.
With this layout, I used their recipe to
create a stack,
but I covered the chipboard with The Robin’s Nest cardstock,
first.
For the heart I used Romantic Red Glitter Chipboard
I adhered the heart onto the back of the Glittered
Chipboard.
….used an X-Acto Knife to cut around the heart.
….sanded down the edges with a file to give it a finished
look.
I did the same with the arrow using the back side of the
Brown on Brown Animal Print
….again with the Glittered Chipboard to cover the bracket piece.
And here it is, all together, shown in my title.
I hope I’ve offered you some new ideas to try with your next
project.
Please be sure to share with
us. We’d love to see what you come up
with!
