Venetian Masquerade Mask

Some of the materials for the making

 To make a mask similar to my "Venetian Masquerade Mask", you will need the following:

• Black and White Glitter Border Swirl ~ 20%  off this month!
• Gold Dusted Dew Drops
• Red and Black Diamond Dew Drops
• One undecorated black mask.
• Precision scissors, Embellie Gellie (for picking up the dews), Fake red roses, Red alcohol pens and a Red distress stain with a water brush.
• Decorative ribbon and trim, strong double sided tape, strong adhesive (I used Aleena's Turbo tacky glue) and Platinum Glitter glue.

Begin by cutting out the swirls from the paper.  Be as precise and detailed as you can.

 

Next start coloring in the designs with your "red" mediums.

Lay out your swirls onto your table to see what design might work. Then place a narrow strip of the double stick tape at the top of the mask and start placing your swirls. Don't worry if some seem awkward, you can trim those later.

   

Place a strip of the double sided tape on your work surface, sticky part up. Make sure this is the full length of the top of the mask. Then carefully but with pressure, place your decorative trim on the tape and begin pleating it as you would do a rosette.

 

Carefully peel off the backing of the tape and place your pleated trim onto the mask. Add a little bit of the tape to some more ribbon and add to the mask as shown. Next put a thin line of glue to the middle ribbon but work fast as the glue dries quickly. Use your gelli stick and ball of wax to easily pick up the dews and adhere them to the glue.

 

Add a line of glue, in sections, to the outline of the mask and add your gold dusted dew drops. You will need to change out the ball of wax on the stick a few times as it gets coated with the gold dust, making it hard to pick up the dew drops. Continue this technique around the eyes.

 

Embellish your mask with more gold dusted dew drops, some red roses and glitter glue. Trim some of the swirls as needed and remove completely or add somewhere else.
