I love art journaling and journaling in general. For this project, I was covering up some private journaling I wrote a few months ago in my art journal in pencil, as I was going through a difficult time. It was something that I really didn't want anyone to read, so I decide to paint over it to make it private, yet honor what I had written.
I found the great Seattle image on a recent vacation and knew I needed to use it. It is from the cover of the Stranger Magazine's Seattle tourism supplement. I really love the graphic feel of the image.
For the background, I initially covered my journaling with Indian Summer colored paint by Delta. For all of the "Painting" and media on this page I used a small pallet knife to spread the media. I used Prima rust media in rust color. I used a Tim Holtz stencil for the clock face on the upper left with gray dimensional paste. I also used a Lindy's mist in a lovely orange color. The image was added using a glue stick. I tore around the word "Seattle" and layered that over the other image.
One reason I love this is that my grandfather was an engineer on the Space Needle and my mom rode the needle before it was open to the public when she was pregnant with me!
To add a little jazzy glimmer, I used mini dew drops. I selected them from the Regency Mix. I have to say personally that this is one of my favorite mixes.
Hope you enjoyed this simple project. See you in a couple of weeks with Christmas Ideas!
