Happy St. Patrick'sDay Card Featuring Riverbed Tear Drops

Hello Crafty Friends - Annie here with a quick and easy St. Patrick's Day Card
that you can even do with the kids.

You can create several of these in no time at all. Perfect to send out to friends and family.

You create a cute little Shamrock with the wonderful Tear Drops.

Let's get started - First draw a simple shamrock onto green cardstock (optional).
Then, adhere the Tear drops to the shamrock - but only to the top.
Set aside to dry. I added a bit of Distress Oxide ink to my stem-
you can to this with a color pencil, marker, etc - this is optional.

Next, on card front panel add a bit of Distress Oxide Ink in Bundled Sage
(any green ink will work) in a circle making the center dark and fading out the color.

Then, add some spatters with Heidi Swapp Colorshine (any gold ink, watercolor etc will work). Allow the card front panel to dry completely.
*Note** you can use your heat tool to speed up the process.
While your panel is drying stamp your sentiment onto white cardstock, trim and add some foam adhesive to the back. Once your front panel is dry adhere it onto dark green cardstock.
Then, place your sentiment onto the card.

Now, your card is complete! Quick and easy.

It's Wine O'Clock - How to Create a Quirky Scrapbook Page

Hello and welcome to the blog.  Shelly with you today sharing a layout featuring the beautiful "Water" Dew Drop Mix.

Dew Drops are my "go to" embellishment for every Layout, card and project I make . They add sparkle and dimension, while highlighting the colors of your project.  Solids or Color Mixes - there's a Dew Drop for EVERY project!

To re-create this page, you will need:

  • Dew Drops - Water Mix
  • Cardstock - White (base)
  • Cardstock - 5 Patterns
  • Embellishments of your choice
  • Paint Mists to create drips on background

Cut Measurements (starting from L to R on layout)

  • Strip 1:  12" H x 3/4" W (tear ends, ink all edges)
  • Strip 2:  9" H x 1" W (ink all edges)
  • Strip 3:  10" H x 2" W (tear one edge, machine stitch down center, ink all edges)
  • Photo Mat:  6" H x 4-1/2" W (add random machine stitching, ink all edges)
  • Journaling: 1-3/4" H x 3" W
  • Journaling Mat:  2-1/2" H x 3-3/4" W
  • Photos: 3" H with varying widths

White on White gives great subtle dimension to your layouts!

Designer note:  I keep all of my "sentiment / word" style embellishments and journaling in a single column down center of page for consistency.

Have I mentioned how obsessed I am with the new packing for Dew Drops?  These glass bottles look so cute on my shelf and will make a great altered item after the Dew Drops are gone!

One last look at my finished layout......

Thanks for stopping by the blog today - have a creative week!

Imperfection Is Beauty

Hi, crafty friends!  Mary here, on the Chattering Robins Blog, to show you how I made this small art piece with some awesome Robin's Nest products!

I started off by gessoing a white piece of cardstock and letting it dry thoroughly.

I picked a beautiful piece of gel printed deli paper from my stash and ripped it into 4 strips.  Then I collaged them down with matte gel medium and dried it with my heat tool.

I had this beautiful piece of teal Robin's Nest Glitter Cardstock, so I punched 1/2 inch circles out of it so I could glue them down randomly over the gel prints.

Another great Robin's Nest Product I used is a die cut circle embellishment.  I colored it black with distress ink and a blending tool.

To give the stripes more definition, I traced the edges with black ink.

Then, I glued everything down, centering the die cut.

I found a great quote stamp and stamped it in black permanent ink onto a gel print on cardstock and colored the white edges with a pink marker.  To add some dimension, I stuck it down with foam double sided tape.

To add more bling to the glitter circles, I glued down Diamond Dew Drops in Shimmer to the center of each circle.

I always like to edge my art, so I used a silver paint pen to do that.

Here's the final product with some close up pics.  I hope you like it and am inspired to make one of your own!

Dew Drops How To: The Absolutely Perfect Mixed Media Embellishment

Hello Creatives!
Welcome to the Chattering Robin's blog.

Michelle here today, bringing to you, the answer to an often asked question
when creating ANY project, even mixed media.
WHAT EMBELLISHMENT DO I USE?
You know, the perfect embellishment to bring a certain pop to your completed project.

The answer......DEW DROPS from The Robin's Nest!

The DEW DROPS come in a variety of collections and colors, including metallic, clear and pearlized finishes, and shapes such as round, diamond & tear drops.

Be sure to visit The Robin's Nest online store, following the link at the end of this post,
to find YOUR perfect embellishment for your next project!

Now a demonstration on how I used DEW DROPS to add a special element of "pop"
to some faux metal and paper covered heart wall hangings I made this week.

I first used small corragated cardboard cardstock, cut into hearts, first covered in black Gesso, and added Plaid's Painted Finishes in Rust, and Finnabair's Art Alchemy Metallique Wax for heart finishes and the clay embellishments of roses that I used on each heart.

On the third heart, I went simple, with a sheet of scrapbook paper, designed in a news ad style.

I added eyelets and wire to create a way to display the hearts as wall hangings, and ribbon and lace to lend to a delicate look.

The finishing touch.......DEW DROPS!

I added coordinating colors of DEW DROPS to each each heart, and also gold metallic too.

They truly are the perfect finishing touch for cards, scrapbook layouts, mixed media, even jewelry making projects.
