Make a Wish Heart

Hi crafty friends!  It's Mary here on the blog today!  I always look around my craft room to get some inspiration for my projects, and I came across a resin heart frame that I've had for a long time.  It fit perfectly on the gesso board I was planning to use.  Bingo!  I had an idea and it came to fruition beautifully with the help some of my favorite Dew Drops!

Here's the finished project and a tutorial on how I completed it:

I started with a 5x5 gesso board and collaged a napkin on it with matte medium.

Make sure to peel the back of the napkin off before you glue it down.

Matte Medium is thin and won't rip delicate napkins like thicker glue might.

Dry the matte medium thoroughly.

Scrape some gesso on the top to push the colors into the background a bit.

I took some fluid acrylic paint and dripped it down from the top, and then sprayed it with water.

To add some more texture, I stamped a script stamp with black in random places.

So much texture on my focal piece, the resin heart frame!

I completely covered the heart in gesso.

To really capture how texturized the frame is, I used powdered concentrated color and water here.

Then I scraped on a bit more gesso and decided that the blue should go on the bottom.

I used a strong glue for the heart to make sure it stayed on really good.

I then added the Dew Drops on the frame and board.

I used a gold paint pen to highlight the quote, the flowers and around the edge of the frame.  Notice that I started with white Dew Drops for the string and changed to gold in the end.

There you have it!  Colorful and fun and so easy!  The Dew Drops really added the finishing touch this project needed.

Here are some pics of the finished piece:

Thanks for sticking with me to the end and I hope you like it and want to create your own art inspired by me.
