How to Create a "Summer Rain" Inspired Mixed Media Canvas

Hello and welcome to the blog today.  Shelly with you sharing a mini canvas with a summer rain vibe created by using Tear Drops from The Robin's Nest.

I enjoy creating on these small canvases - the stamp I chose has a real free-spirit / bohemian vibe that had me picturing her dancing in the summer rain - the colors in the "Baby" Tear Drop Mix were perfect for my project!

What I used:

  • Baby Tear Drop Mix
  • 4 x 4 Canvas
  • Acrylic Paint (I am use a Robin Egg Blue and White)
  • Stamp (I am using a stamp from Picket Fence Studios)
  • Pens for coloring stamped image
  • Book Pages / Sheet Music
  • Pop dots
  • adhesive

What I did:

  • Using a wet wipe, apply paint to your canvas
  • using a blotting, circular motion.  Add in some white for dimension and contrast
  • Cut sun shapes from book pages or sheet music (half circle and triangles)

  • Apply your sun shapes to upper right corner of canvas using a decoupage medium
  • Stamp your image, cut out and color as desired
  • Using foam pop dots or similar - attach your stamped image to lower left hand corner of canvas

  • Complete your canvas by adhering Baby Tear Drops all over canvas is "rain" pattern

Thanks for stopping by the blog today - have a creative week!

Shelly
