How to create a Butterfly Art Journal Page

Butterfly Journal Page with Dew Drops,

by Mary Szymanski aka MotleyMixedMedia

Hi folks!  Mary here with the Robin's Nest Design Team with a detached journal page featuring Dew Drops and a beautiful Visible Image stencil.

I used Silver metallic, Pink metallic and clear (from the Sun Shower collection), and clear Purple Dew Drops to embellish this piece.

My Supply List:
Black/White/Silver Dew Drops
Purple and Green Dew Drops
Sun Shower Tear Drops
6x6 White cardstock
6.5x6.5 black cardstock with Silver Script (DCWV)
Acrylic paints in Purple, Teal, Gold, Green Metallic, White and Black
Viva Décor 3-D Stamp Paint in Lime Green Metallic
Recollections Quote Sticker
Visible Image Butterfly Ink stencil
Ranger's Glossy Accents
Sookwang double sided tape

For this piece, I started with a blank 6x6 piece of white cardstock.  I brushed on the teal and purple paints, not being particularly careful or waiting for each color to dry.  Then I used an old expired gift card to make vertical lines using the gold, lime-green metallic and white and metallic green paints.  After that dried, I used a small circular cap to make circle marks in white and teal.  Once those paints were dry, I sponged black pain through the butterfly stencil.  I then added the beautiful Dew Drops, trying to keep them a bit abstract on the page, except for the ones I added as the body of the butterfly  I glued them on using Glossy Accents, so they would stay in place.  I place the quote sticker on the bottom right side.  It's true that friends make life better, isn't it?  I placed the finished piece on a slightly larger piece of black cardstock, pre-printed with silver script, using double sided tape.  And viola! A shimmery, fun and fairly simple to make journal page.  Now I can paste it into one of my art journals!

Thanks for hanging with me on the Robin's Nest blog today!
