A Robin's Nest Exclusive: Beautiful Ballerina Mixed Media Canvas How To

Hello crafty friends, Michelle here with you today sharing how I made this mixed media canvas using exclusive Robin's Nest cardstock and embellishments, along with a
decorative paper napkin, printed with a beautiful ballerina, which is a gift from a precious friend.

I used a standard 8x10 canvas as the base of this project,
and a 5x7 canvas panel for the center.

I began with adding gel medium to the canvas panel first,
ans I very carefully removed the second layer of the napkin,
to give a more sheer illusion to the actual print, and very carefully
applied that print to the prepped canvas panel.

Having a few wrinkles in the napkin image, gave
a more vintage feel, and added texture.

Next, I used some left over cardstock from The Robin's Nest
in pink & brown hues. The following are the patterns I used:

Rosy Diamond Cardstock(using both sides)

Girl Crown Glittered Cardstock (using both sides)

Girl Swirl Glittered Cardstock

I roughened the edges of the cardstock by tearing away from the smooth edges, and then randomly placed them over the entire surface of the 8x10 canvas.

For added interest, I used an iridescent medium, randomly applied with a "script" stencil & spatula, as well as a music note mini cling stamp, applied with black ink.

I wanted to embellish the ballerina panel, so from the polka dot side of the crown glitter cardstock, I made a couple of layered flowers, with a plain brown center.
Once I had the flowers glued and in desired position, I mixed some pink milk paint powder, mixed with the iridescent medium, and lightly grazed the tops of all flower petals.

If you haven't used The Robin's Nest EXCLUSIVE Archival seeds, you are missing out!
I used a variety of sizes and color, from the Bubble Gum Archival Seeds, to add that little bit of "something extra" to the ballerina panel.
Just follow link below the pic, to view the Archival Seed Collections.

For finishing touches, I splattered with a little gold metallic spray, and added a wood laser embellie to the top of the ballerina panel, and I also used distress re-inker around the edges of the the canvas panel & image, and around the 8x10 canvas, to give a more vintage look.

I absolutely love the results, a little vintage, a little distressed, and a little "girly"
with the pink hues, flowers and glittered cardstock.
