Beach Captured

Hello Robin's Nest Readers,

Robin posting today.
I decided to create a layout for a cute beach picture
of my grand daughter Shelby.

This was her first time to the beach and to experience the ocean
waves, sand in your toes and the beach.

She wasn't so sure in the beginning, here she is looking at the
waves, in December, in California.
So it wasn't a day for a swim suit and jump in the water,
even though the kids did get in the water
and were shivering as we got to the car.

First  I placed my picture, and a few papers behind the pictures.

Then I added the embellishments to the page.
Flowers, ship, water under the ship, sea horses, sayings, heart.

Then I added rub ons and stickers, and some brads.

Then the dew drops, archival seeds and the lettering.

These are the Robin's Nest Products I used.

Beach Rub-on     Boating Sticker   Pink Glitter Coral

Bubble Gum Archival Seeds   Rosy Cards  Azure Bike Die-Cuts

Blue Raspberry Sorbet Cardstock  Pansies Mini Dew Drops    Alpha Glitter Stickers

Green Glitter Journaling      Sea Horse Glitter Chipboard

The ship is from  My Gypsy Soul die cuts.

Have a great day!

You Just Altered a Jumbo Clothespin, Now What? 10 Great Ideas!

Hello and welcome to Chattering Robins today!   Shelly here with a cute project that has lots of great uses!

I found this jumbo wood clothes pin while doing a big purge of my craft room - - forgot I even had it and got inspired to create.

Here's what I used:

  -2 pieces cut: 1-1/4" Wide X 4-1/4" Long
  -2 pieces cut: 1-1/4" Wide X 1" Long
  -2 pieces cut: 3/4" Wide X 4" Long

Here's what I did:
  •  Gently remove spring mechanism from your clothes pin
  • Sand and smooth any rough edges (I used regular nail file for this)

  • Paint your clothespin pieces Gloss Black (I used Krylon spray paint)
  • Generously ink edges of all cut cardstock pieces.  Glue Glitter Discovery Girl pieces on top of Wedding Cut Outs long strips and glue to your clothes pins.  Glue small Wedding Cut Outs squares to upper portion of clothes pin
  • Re-assemble your clothes pin
  • Apply 3 Dew Drops from the Early Dawn mix to the lower portion on each side of your pin

  • Thread Rosy Ribbon through center of clothespin, tie  bow and trim ends
  • As a final touch, I added a shank back metal charm to my ribbon using a hat pin

Now that you have this beautiful clothespin, what are you going to do with it?  As promised, here are 10 great ideas for jumbo clothespins:
  1. Photo Holder
  2. Business Card Holder
  3. Balloon Bouquet Anchor
  4. Gift Topper that is also a gift
  5. Hold recipe cards in the kitchen
  6. Chip Bag clip
  7. Decorative closure for treat bags (think clear cello bags of goodies for the holidays!)
  8. Add a strip of magnet to one side and use on your fridge to hold notepads, or artwork
  9. Use Christmas themed products to alter, clip on your tree or wreath
  10. Place cards for holiday or party table

Have more jumbo clothespin ideas? Let me know!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today - have a creative week!

How To Make A Beautiful Masquerade Frame With Robin's Nest Diamond Drops

Hello there, Michelle here today to share with you my latest project for The Robin's Nest,
a masquerade inspired wooden frame.

This project began with a $1 Artminds Wooden frame I purchased at Michaels and
a couple of sheets of jewel toned patterned cardstock in my personal stash, that I couldn't quite decide what to do with it.

The Robin's Nest had ALL the perfect elements I needed for this project, with the jewel toned Dew Drop color and shape varieties, Mini Mardi Gras Masks & beautiful cardstock like the distressed rich purple (flip side) of the Birthday Candles Glitter Cardstock & the Irresdescent Classic Glitter Swirl Vellum specialty paper.

*The masks that I have, had just a bit of a silver glitter splash on them, presently featured in the store are gorgeously glittered gold/silver & purple/green varieties, and would work beautifully in any project.

The best feature of my frame, the Diamond Dew Drops. The colors I chose were purple, blue, black, green & orange. I also used gold Mini Dew Drops in metallic gold & a fuchsia metallic Dew Drop. In addition to these, I used Tear Drops in coordinating colors to add a bling effect to the flowered masks, while using the Diamond Drops on one mask without a flower.

To begin, I gessoed the entire frame, followed by a rich purple gouache paint. I used a matte gel medium to adhere all cardstock in vertical rows to the front of the frame.

I then randomly patterned the Diamond Dew Drops to the solid RN cardstock, as well as the patterned diamond cardstock from my stash, using the Gold Mini Drops as a filler of sorts.

Once all elements had been made & prepped with glue, I put everything into place.

And voila! A frame that would make a great gift for anyone who loves a masquerade.

This was a very easy project, with so much personality.
If you have not yet viewed the variety of the Dew Drops, Tear Drops & Diamond Dew Drops at The Robin's Nest online store, check them out. They are absolutely the perfect embellishment to make any project "pop" with beautiful color.

*Just a reminder, the beautiful distressed purple paper on the front of the frame & the matte inside the frame, are the only Robin's Nest cardstock, ALL the embellishments (excluding the flowers & ribbon) are also from The Robin's Nest.
