Marilyn Monroe said, "Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."
Well, that's our theme this month! And since my BFF's daughter just had a baby girl, this card fit both the theme and the need for a baby card.
So true! Here is the recipe for this 5.5" x 5.5" card. Supply links will be listed below.
I cut a white piece of cardstock to 5.25" x 5.25" and embossed that with the Simple Flowers Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and adhered that to my card base. I then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the shoe pieces from the beautiful Rosy Chevron cardstock from The Robin's Nest. I used both sides of the paper...the front for the top of the shoe and the reverse side for the inside of the shoe. The straps were cut from scrap cardstock I had in my stash.
I popped out the center of the flowered part of the shoe and added some foam tape to the back to give the shoes a little dimension.
I used my Silhouette to journal the sentiment "You are never too young for fabulous shoes" using a green glitter Cri-Kit pen and then cut that out along with a background shape for it. The flowers were in my flower stash and the metallic pink jewels are Dew Drops.
Once I had the shoes assembled, I attached them and the sentiment to the card front using a combination of adhesive and foam tape to add even more dimension to the card. I colored in the "Fabulous Shoes" with a Dark Pink Wink of Stella pen to add a little more sparkle.
I was commissioned to do some canvas pictures for my friend's daughter's new room. I had never worked with canvas in this manner before and this was way out of my comfort zone. I much prefer making cards...it's what I know. But I think they turned out pretty good, so I thought I would share them with you. The new mama had something very specific in mind, and this is how I interpreted it.
This is a small one that I practiced on to get the feel for what I was doing. I then did two 16"x20" canvasses.
I think they turned out pretty good. She was thrilled with them. And I was happy I tried and succeeded with something new.
My point is, never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone with your crafting. You may even surprise yourself!
Hope I was able to inspire you today!
See you soon!
