Christmas Junk Journal Part Two

Hi there! It's me Tonya! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and didn't eat too much. :-)  I'm back to share the other half of my Christmas junk journal using the Christmas Collection (North Pole) which is 20% off this month over at the Robin's Nest site. As you remember the photo below is the cover of my journal I created and if you missed that post you can check it out here.

I used Christmas Glitter WordsBlack and White Glitter Pine Tree and Red Snowflakes cardstock to create these two page layouts below with a folded pullout too. I found the Santa image online when I was doing a search and just printed it out.

I used Flame Glitter Swirl cardstock on these two page spread. One side I added the rub on "believe" to the cardstock. The paperbag I added a glimmer misted paper doilie and a Santa cut out to the paperbag and a pullout tag too.

Christmas Collection and Tonic Studio Punch Projects

Welcome back to the fabulous month at Robin's Nest and the joint efforts with Tonic Studio Punches. My punch is called Simplicity Pattern Vine Strip. I am starting with a christmas page : Merry Christmas.

In this close up I started with a large circle which I marked and punched all the way around. I made sure it was bigger than the photo I wanted to centre on it. I then added a thin black border around the outer edge and then added Solid Color Dew Drops spaced between the punching.
On this page I added stickers with stickles added and punchinella under the title.

Why Make Just One?

I hope you all are enjoying a special day.  It's Ro here, and I am spending some wonderful time with family and friends. And while it's a very busy time, I'm not too busy to share with you some cards made with the wonderful Robin's Nest papers!!!

Did you know it's just as easy to make four cards as it is to make one?  Trust me when I say IT IS! You simply cut everything out in fours.  It only takes a couple of minutes longer and when you're done, you will have four cards instead of just one.  This is a great way to put together some spare cards for your stash, or perhaps tie a nice ribbon around them and give them as a hostess gift.  It makes it easy when doing invitations or Christmas cards (just multiply the numbers as needed).  Put together a batch of thank you notes in a snap!  Change the size and layout and you can do multiple gift tags or bookmarks.  The ideas are limitless!

Here is my little "batch" of four...

As you can see, they are not all exactly alike.  The placement of the dew drops is different and the background areas are from different sections of one piece of cardstock.

Egypt, Camels, Rides

Hello Readers!

2 years ago we were able to stop in Egypt
on our way back from Ethiopia.
This is another one of those bucket list items
that I thought would ever happen in my life.

Just to stand in front of the Pyramids and try to fathom
their age, was insurmountable.

This is the first page of my album on our trip to Egypt.
It seems simple, and I intended it to be,
things there are very simple.

I used:
Brown Herringbone CS
Gold Glitter Paisley CS
Bird of Paradise Dew Drops
All other products are from our trip
and purchased in Egypt.
The little beetle is a ceramic bead.

This is another just simple page.
The biggest feat of all is I am on a Camel!
This is something I'm sure my kids think,
My Mom did that!
These days, I've done some crazy things on our
trips, and they are starting to get used to this
non-athletic, reserved person doing some out of the
ordinary things!

I used a retired Palm Tree CS Sheet,
a book page distressed, and
a swirl shape from Want 2 Scrap

This is probably my favorite picture.
It's fun because it is off set.
Probably happened while Dana was turned around
on his camel trying to get me in the photo.
But because it is off set, the sand behind shows,
and it makes the photo.

I used:
Palm Tree CS ( Retired)
Brown Glitter Letter Stickers
Ancient Map CS
Want 2 Scrap Swirl shape
Other products from my scrapbook stash.

Well, tomorrow is Thanksgiving,
We wish you the best from our home to yours
on this wonderful season.
We have so much to be thankful for,
we will be spending time with them this week,
and this week-end, love our kids,
and so happy they are all coming for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to you All.

Folded Circle Card Tutorial

 Hi Everyone!
I recently acquired a crazy cool card making die for this years Christmas cards. I spent a couple of hours playing with it and created this beautiful card to share with you!
Materials used:
Black and White Glitter Swirl

Gold dew Drops

Obsidian Diamond Dew Drops

Gold Paisley on Black
A red coloring pen, black fine tip pen, gold glitter dust and dry brush, Plain black cardstock strips, red cardstock, tombo glue, foam tape, Big Shot and Sizzix Circle Card Thinlits die- from Stampin Up.
 (see below)

I cut the black and white glitter swirl paper to 5 ½" x 6" and ran it through my big shot with the thinlit card die. Then I colored in the swirls with my red pen.

I used the scalloped thinlit die on red cardstock and next did the heart die inside the scallop.
I placed these on the circle part of the card with foam tape. I filled in the heart cavity with the tombo glue and placed as many gold dew drops as I could fit.  I filled in the gaps around the dews in the heart with gold glitter powder, using a dry paint brush to get the dust into tight spots.
I added some glue and dust to the outside of the heart and along the circle. A pen helped add detail and diamond dews finished the design.
Adding the black strips of cardstock is not required but I thought it added a nice touch.

For the inside circle, I added a scalloped die cut of the black paisley and the red heart from the front design.
 The card below is 5 ½" x 8".
It was made with the same die, except instead of just running the die and paper through the big shot, you can pull some of the paper out from under the die and over the end.
This allows you to have a card 'extension'. It will work on any thinlit die you own. Once you get the hang of it...your cards will never be the same again! :)

For this card I used reversible Black and White Holly - on SALE this month 20% off!
Glitter Red Rope, and gold glitter glue.

Thanks for coming by, I hope you liked my cards. :)

Christmas Markets in Germany

2 years ago we spent a month in Germany,
really we stayed that long, so we could
go to the Kris Kringle Marts, and they don't start
until after Thanksgiving.

Christmas Markets were on my bucket list,
and I never imagined that we would have and opportunity
to go to them ever.
So when we were going to be there, it just seemed
smart to stay a few extra days to take in these great markets.

Absolutely amazing!
We had a blast, most large towns had their own markets,
and it is a big deal there, everyone dresses up very warm,
and they spend the day, or the evening  just walking and
shopping, and the best eating.
The food was to die for.

Here is an evening photo of us at the market
it isn't the best photo, but I just loved the look of it
with Christmas trees behind us, and the way the lights
pop out.

I loved how the paper made the photo pop.
I used Glitter Red  Cardstock.
I also used one Christmas Texture packet.
I decided that instead of using paper, I would use the
texture packet to add the fun dimension and texture to the page
layout.  It worked,  Christmas tree is made from a pipe cleaner.
Green mini dew drops, clear dew drops, and metallic red dew drops
are used on this page.  Glitter Christmas Words
are also used, Peace.
Other products used on this page are from my scrapbook stash.

This was a fast and easy layout.
All the fun was in the Christmas Texture Packet!

Another Duo of Christmas Cards, Part Deux

Hello everyone!  I am so glad you stopped by today.  I have another duo of Christmas cards to share with you today using the Robin's Nest red and black Christmas Collection, along with Tonic punches and dies from Purple Cows, our sponsor this month. And best of all, the Christmas collection is 20% off this month.  So, if you are looking for some beautiful papers for your Christmas projects, I know you are going to love these.
Supplies used:

The Robin's Nest:  Hunter Classic Glitter with Gold Glitter CSRed Glitter Stripe CS, Red Snowflakes CSChristmas Glitter Words CSRed Distressed CSSilver Glitter on Creme Swirl CSRuby Red diamond drops, Champagne dew drops
Tonic Studio Daisy Circle Die, Daisy Border Punch (Purple Cows)
Winter Snow corner punch, Winter Snow border punch (Martha Stewart)
Mini Snowflake Rosette die (Sizzix)
Cherry Cobbler ribbon (Stampin Up)
Diamond Stickles

Trim a sheet of Hunter Classic Glitter with Gold Glitter CS to 7" x 10".  Fold in half to make a base card measuring 7" x 5".  Cut a piece of the Red Snowflakes CS slightly smaller than card front (6-3/4" x 4-3/4"), punch corners with snowflake corner punch, adhere reverse (red) side to card base.
Cut two strips of Red Snowflakes CS and adhere along edge, as shown.
Die cut a scrap of Hunter Classic Glitter with Gold Glitter CS using the Daisy Circle Die.  Then cut out the center with a 1-3/4" scallop die.

I found this copyright free image of candy canes online.
Cut out one cane and trace onto Red Glitter Stripe CS, reversing one so you have a a cane going in both directions.  I also traced onto the right side of the paper only to ensure my stripes were going diagonally.  Erase any pencil marks left.

Insert both candy canes through daisy circle die cut before adhering to card base.  Cut out "Merry Christmas" words from Christmas Glitter Words CS.  Adhere to card front with pop dots, as shown.
I needed a little more glitter, so I added a light coat of Diamond stickles to the snowflake borders, and Champagne dew drops, as shown.  The stickles do not show up well in the photo, but they really add to the whole piece.

For my second card, trim Red Distressed CS to 4-1/2" x 12", fold in half to make top folded base card that measures 4-1/2" x 6".  Distress edges and apply Old Paper distress stain.  (NOTE:  If you are making lots of these, you can certainly skip this step).
I trimmed a sheet of Red Snowflakes CS to 4" x 6" and applied Old Paper distress stain.  It has a green undertone, perfect for Christmas.  Punch around the page with the snowflake punches and adhere to card base.
Trim a scrap of Hunter Classic Glitter with Gold Glitter CS to 1-3/8" x 3-3/4" and adhere to center.
Add the little green daisies (from the die cut used in the card above) to various snowflakes, as shown.

Die cut a mini snowflake rosette from Silver Glitter on Creme Swirl CS.  Add Ruby Red diamond drops to center of rosette.  Adhere to center portion of card with two small pieces of red ribbon.
There you have it.  Another duo of Christmas cards that I hope have inspired you and helped get those juices flowing to make some yourself.  As I've said before,  this collection makes it is so easy to make beautiful, quick and easy cards for the holidays.  And since they are on sale this month, I hope you will take a moment to check out the Robin's Nest online store for more of their matching products to make your holiday cards fabulous.  And don't forget to visit the Robin's Nest blog for tons more inspiration this month using this versatile collection.

Have a wonderful week, and a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
