Paper Tube Owls

 Hi Everyone!
As most of you know...I love owls! I'm always drawing, sewing, painting and making owls. I've had this paper tube idea bouncing around in my crafty head for sometime. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and maybe you'll see those empty paper tubes in a new light. :)

Materials used for this craft:
Epiphany Shape studio Tool Round 14
Epiphany Bubble caps Round 14
The Robins Nest Getaway Dew Drops -assorted sizes
The Robins Nest Blue, Orange & Pink Crackle Cardstock
Paper Tubes- from empty toilet paper and paper towels.
Double stick tape, stapler, strong clear adhesive and scissors.

Begin by cutting a piece of crackle cardstock to fit all around your tube with room to spare. Apply the tape and wrap around the tube pressing firmly in place. Trim off any uneven edges.

About 1" from the top, staple in the center. Turn over and staple in the exact spot as a reinforcement.
With your scissors, cut from top corner to top corner as shown.

Take your Epiphany Shape tool and flip open the top lid. Slide your cardstock inside. Find your desired pattern on the paper through the tools hole, then place a (sticker) bubble cap into the hole securing your pattern in place.

Close the lid, place the tool on a flat surface and push down with the palm of your hand. You will hear a crunch as the tool punches out your pattern. To release the bubble cap, gently press down on the tool and the cap will come up.
Use this tool to randomly punch several circles from the same cardstock.
Works as easily as a hand punch.

Apply glue for the owls eyes
to be larger than the bubble caps. This leaves room for the mini dew drops to be placed.
You can also cover up part of the staple with the owls beak.

To create the front of the owl, add a bit of glue and begin layering your circle cutouts from the bottom, working your way up. You may also cut some circles in half and add feet if you like.

Thanks for coming by, I hope you liked my craft.
The Crackle Glitter Cardstock is on sale all month on The Robins nest site for 20% off!
