More Scraps of Darkness & The Robins Nest

Mandy Harrell

Big Bro

 For this layout Mandy wanted a more rugged and distressed look. She still wanted the layout to maintain a sense of beauty and "girlie grunge" if you will. To achieve the look on the edges distressing was used both on the pattern paper and cardstock with a hand held distress tool. The edges were then inked with distress ink and a paint brush dipped in water was brushed along the edges. This achieves a further distressed look with control over the wet distressing technique. Crumpling the papers and bending them inward gives that time worn look.

  When Mandy put this page together she wanted to give it a fancy framed look. The layering began with the cream cardstock with each paper being trimmed down and scalloped along the edges. The inner most layer has the scallop cut edges and is also stitched. Flowers, chippie and butterflies are scattered about with the focus of this layout being on the photo.

For this layout, Cheryl followed the sketch for August, designed by Charlotte a/k/a Suepup. Each month Scraps of Darkness has a sketch designed exclusively for their kit. The Robins Nest papers were distressed and layered. Ribbon, leaves, flowers and pearls were used as embellishments.
