A Mermaid Head of Hair

Dew Drops, Starfish, and Fish Nest Oh My!

Hello Robin's Nest Readers!
I wanted to share how I made my Mermaid Hair which, of course, includes The Robin's Nest products!

I started with a few extras from the our local craft store:
Green Flowers
Blue Flowers
Gold Leaves
Green Glitter Leaves
Feathers
Pipe Cleaners in Green and Blue
Gold Wire
Scraperfect Glue
AND
Water Dew Drops
Sea Glass Tear Drops

I also needed a wig from the Halloween Express store.  I decided on the hippy wig and then decided that I needed gold and glitter blue spray paint.

The Robin's Nest also has colored starfish and fishnet, so I decided to throw those in. Why not?

I started by painting mini rubber toys from the dollar store.  I started with a gold layer, then added a dusting of Glitter Blue spray paint, both from Krylon.

Let dry.

Add the Fishnet, then de-stem the flowers, and begin gluing, and metal twisting, and weaving.... Whatever you can do to get everything to stay in one place.

Add feathers, and more flowers; twisting and weaving again.

Add a blue colored starfish.

Then glue the plastic sea animals.

The Dew Drops are a perfect detail to create a Mermaid look.  Add a mini dot of Scraperfect's The Best Glue Ever, then place the Dew Drop, flat side down.

Add more Dew Drops.

And Tear Drops to the flowers for a wet look.

Pull the dreaded hair back and twist with pipe cleaners.

A closer look.

Viola! What do you think?

I hope your day is super fun and crafty!

Pup & Pumpkin - Fall Layout

Because we had a few days here in Southern California that were actually below 80 degrees, and I took the dogs to the pumpkin patch, and the Robin's Nest has a gorgeous selection of rich, deep colors - I was inspired to create this fall layout featuring Henry (who appears to be placing "dibs" on one of those pumpkins!)

And here's how you can create this look:

Photo (4" x 4")
White Cardstock for base
Blue Glitter Cardstock (4 1/2" x 4 1/2" use as photo mat)
Green Elephant Glitter Cardstock  - use patterned blue side (6 1/2" x 12")
Orange Cardstock
Brown Herringbone Cardstock (use with butterfly punch)
Leaf Glitter Cardstock (fussy cut leaves)

  • Using a sewing machine or pen for faux stitches, create a border around your white cardstock in dark blue
  • Cut & punch papers per measurements given
  • Ink all edges

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you are inspired to create a Fall layout!

Have a creative weekend!

Colleen here with a fall layout for you.  I had so much fun using fall papers on this project.

I started with Brown Glitter cardstock and then tore and inked the beautiful Orange Crackle Glitter cardstock which was added to the top, I used the back side of the paper to add the pop of plain orange to connect the two together.

The leaves were made using Chocolate Brown Glitter cardstock, Kiwi Sobert Glitter cardstock, the back side of Valentine Heart cardstock,  the back side of the Dinosaur cardstock and the acorns were made from the Chocolate Brown Glitter cardstock.

I wanted to give the leaves some dimension so I used my crimper.

I hand cut the swirls from Coffee Cream Classic Glitter paper to add them behind the leave.  I used the Maple RN Paper Clips on the photo and to finish off the page I used one of the Outdoors Sticker at the top and layer an Orange Crush card on top.

Thank you for looking and please don't forget to check out all the wonderful product at the Robin's Nest Store.
