Every girl wants to be a ballerina

I always wanted to dance.  For years I took dancing lessons.  Ballet was one year only. Jazz and tap I did for over 12 years.  I even took swing dance lessons when I was in my 20's.  I will let you in on a secret- I am not a good dancer.  I kept at it hoping one day it would click... I didn't.  My sister is the dancer in the family.  She competed for years.  So instead of dancing I read and I craft.  Today I crafted some dancing shoes.

I started by cutting my shoes out of the Glitter Cardstock for the tops and the Wedding Cut Outs Cardstock was used for the soles. I cut tiny notches all around the tops to make it easier to glue them to the soles.  I just used the hot glue gun for this part.  I made a little line of glue and folded a few tabs.  If you try and glue the whole thing at once it won't work(just a hint, perhaps I tried this method).

Once the shoes were glued it was time to decorate.  I used the Tender Teal Archival Seeds to go all around the edge of the shoes.  Next,I pulled some flowers out of my stash and the doilies you find in the Azure Bike Die Cuts.  I added these to the toes of the shoes.

Now the insides were looking pretty plain.  I took a plastic ballerina cake topper and gave her a makeover. The Azure Ribbon set comes with two gorgeous ribbons.  Both were used on her skirt and her bodice.  A Metallic Silver Dew Drop was added to finish her look.  Now she's pretty enough for these shoes.  Pearl trim covered up any glue issues on the soles.

I made a little banner out of the Glitter Cardstock and added a sentiment.  The rest of the Azure Ribbon was added to the inside of the shoes to look like laces and the top for the ankle ribbon.  A large bow completes the shoes.

I can't dance, but I can make a pretty pair of dancing shoes!
Hope you like them.  Pop by my blog to see what else I have been up to.

Hello Sunshine

Good Morning!

When I saw the Saffron Honey collection I knew I needed to create my next mixed media piece.
I love the subdued yellows in this collection.

I started out by tearing and arranging pieces of the saffron honey cardstock.

and some scraps of dictionary pages and cracked cardstock I already had on a 10 x10 canvas.

I attached the sheets with a light molding paste. I let the molding paste fill up the open areas too.

I painted in the open areas with a transparent yellow iron oxide and randomly dripped black, caramel, ginger, and sunshine yellow alcohol ink and let it drip down the canvas.

I created flowers by taking zipper pieces and gluing them in a circular pattern with Beacon
Fabri-Tac adhesive.I then took black string beads and added then around the flowers. for the center of the flower I used honey passion archival seeds .

The honey bee netting and the ephemera card came from Saffron Bee Die Cuts

and the Saffron Cards.

I rounded out the piece using a bottle cap art piece and some filmstrip.

I had so much fun incorporating The Robin's Nest ® Saffron Honey Collection into my newest piece of mixed media art.

I want to invite you all to join us at The Robin's Nest ® blog hop at the end of March. It will be so much fun and prizes too!!

Alaska Hike

Hello Robin's Nest Readers,

Robin Posting today.

Still more Alaska pictures!

I'm getting closer to getting this trip finished!
So more to come.

I wanted to do something completely different with this layout.

I decided to add a bright pink with the green to this layout.
It is just a simple layout, but so monumental
to the trip.  We just had lots of fun in the beautiful
Alaska mountains.
Who could not fall in love with this scenery?

I can see why people love to live in Alaska, I will
add to that, in the Summer!

I don't enjoy the winters, but seriously, I don't really enjoy
the winters period.  I like them, just not for a very long time.
But, alas, I live in Utah, so there is cold, cold, cold.
So while, I am in the cold, I love to flip through
my summer photos and enjoy the warmth that is inseminated by the photos.

I love how the pink and green go together with these
fun photos,  can you see the fire plants that are
so famous in Alaska in these pictures?

They line the roads everywhere there and bring such beauty to the
state.  We went blueberry picking, but didn't find any blueberries on this trip,
just hiked, and enjoyed the view of these gorgeous mountains

I used the Glitter Clover CS, Pink Glitter Sorbet, Discovery Girl,
and the Outdoor Sticker.
