Whip up some easy holiday hostess gifts with these cones

Christmas cones are an easy way to make some holiday decor for your home. It's also a great way to re-use outdated or damaged decorations.

I'm Robin's Nest veteran designer Betsy Skagen of Paper Calliope and I love to whip up these decorations to make fun and unique hostess gifts.

Tutorial how to make holiday cone decorations

Step 1: Cut a large arc across a piece of Cindy Lou Glitter Cardstock. Roll it into a cone shape and glue it together.

Step 2: Punch a hole on each side, near the top, and tie a coordinating ribbon to it to make a handle.

Step 3: Crumple tissue paper, add a little adhesive and stuff it into the bottom of the cone.

Step 4: Make two rosettes with the reverse side of Cindy Lou Dots Glitter Cardstock and the Cindy Lou Glitter Cardstock. If you have never made rosettes before, here's a tutorial. Add glitter glue to the edges. After they are dry, layer them atop one another and adhere together.

Step 5: Fussy cut a present from the Cindy Lou Presents Cardstock and adhere to center of rosettes. Make a bow with gold cording and adhere to the present.

Step 6: Make the seam of the cone less noticeable by adhering a image that you fussy cut from holiday ephemera.

Step 7: Add assorted Christmas decorations to the inside of the cone. I created a musical theme by adding a Santa holding a trumpet figurine, brass jingle bells, a miniature horn as well as a white bottlebrush tree, glitter pinecones, lace, berries and flowers.

Step 8: Add a decorative element to the base of the cone.

Thank you for stopping by the Robin's Nest. I hope this helps inspire you to make your own holiday cones. Here's wishing you a happy December!  -Betsy
