Don Jose

I have lots of little tid-bits to share with you today!  Quite a few techniques….

My first technique to share with you today starts with this lovely life-size Postcard stamp from Heartfelt Creations.  I used Prisma Color watercolor pencils to color in my image after stamping it with Momento Black stamp pad.  Momento is a great ink to use when stamping if you’ll be coloring in the image because, in this case, the black ink won’t smear.
I color in only where I want a darker color.  Then, I take a paint brush, dipped in water to spread the color over the image.  It’s quite magical to watch because it so simple to do.

I stamped this image three times, coloring in the flowers and leaves only on two of the images.

After cutting out the flowers and leaves one to two times,
I layered them with foam tape onto the original stamped image.
I topped the main flower with Liquid Glass from Close to my Heart to make in shiny and pretty!

For the brick, I used the The Robin's Nest, Red Lion Cardstock to dry emboss the brick into the paper.  I tore some of the edges to get the look of a broken down brick wall, inking them with Distress Ink.

I like to use Liquitex Matte Medium to adhere to brick to the Vanilla Glitter Fleur Cardstock.  When using Matte Medium to adhere paper, you need to paint the medium under AND over the paper you are adhering.

These chipboard pieces from Gina’s Designs where painted with gold Distress Paint.

I sponged some Distress Ink to the edges of the Fleur De Lis
chipboard pieces to give it a more metallic-rustic look.

I also played with the Burnished Key Die set from Heartfelt Creations.  After cutting all the pieces out of cardstock, I covered this piece with Distress Crackle Paint.

Once it was dry and the crackles were showing, I sponged Distress Ink on the edges.

I threaded a few keys from the Burnished Key Die through some jump rings
and hung them from the ‘S’ that’s in my title.

To finish off the page, I added Forest Brown Dew Drops to the centers of the Fleur De Lis chipboard pieces and a few Ocean Dew Drops on the silk flowers to act as water droplets.
It really is all very simple.  You should give one or two of these tips a try in your next project!

Butterfly Mini Pennant Banner

 Hi Everyone!
Michelle here with a project that I have been itching to make for our kitchen window.
I wanted to make something that would be perfect for Spring all the way through Summer.
I love the colors red, turquoise, gold and black. Add butterflies and you have a perfect combination, right?
I hope you'll forgive me that I don't have a detailed tutorial like I usually do, but in this case, I did not have a master plan. I just made it up as I went! And I had a blast!
I used some of the cardstock and chipboard shapes you see below from Gina's Designs.
The letters "LOVE"  are from The Robins Nest Glittered Red Stickers.

The base of each pennant is made from canvas drop cloth. You can get it in the painting section of any home improvement store. Soooo much cheaper than buying it at the fabric store. The pennant triangle shapes were from a Stampin Up pennant die. I just traced the cloth to be bigger than the largest pennant.
I used a variety of metallic acrylic paint and coated the chipboard pieces using my finger.
I  used a butterfly die and butterfly punches on music sheet paper.

A heat gun helped speed up drying of the painted pieces.

I used my butterfly die and punches on Red and Gold Glittered Chipboard from The Robins Nest. The gold and shiny red you see around the edges of everything is made with Inka Gold.
I simply applied it with my finger. I guess you can guess by now that I'm a 'hands on crafter'.   :)

I used fine red glitter and chunky vintage gold glitter, then I accented everything with Obsidian Diamond Dew Drops.

Here is some of the paper from The Robins Nest that was used in the making of the banner.
Classic Roses.
Red Glitter Paisley
Valentine Heart Cardstock
Valentine Stripe Cardstock &  (not shown) for the teal rosettes- Black Glittered Fleur.

Both Tombo and Aleen's extra tacky glue were to assemble all the fun.
Then tied everything together with a pretty sheer ribbon.

I love the layering and the color combinations.
It was so fun to make!

Gina's Designs for chipboards and die cuts are so easy to use and work with any project.

 Thanks for coming by!
I hope you liked my project and are inspired to make one of your own!

Star Wars Snowflakes

When we are visiting
our grandchildren, I love to
do a little activity or project with them
so they have fond
memories of our time together.

Last year in December we went
to visit Jer and Tara for the new year
celebration, they had their older
boys with them for the Christmas break
for a few days while we were there.

I had been pinning these cute
Star Wars Snowflake patterns
and we decided to spend a morning
working on cutting snowflakes.

It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be,
we needed exacto knives and mini, mini scissors
to accomplish this task of
making snowflakes look like
Star Wars characters.

This was a fun day
with our grand sons,
and Porter was so excited
he also made some of his own
designs of snowflakes.

It is still winter here in Utah
so I thought it would be fun to share a project
with you that maybe
you can do with your kids
during this winter season!

Robin's Nest products used:
Christmas Collection (North Pole)
Snow Covered Trees CS (back side)
Red Snowflakes CS
Partners Product
Ecstacy Crafts (Snowflake stickers)

Find these printed cardstock sheets
on our website

You can download the patterns
for free off the internet
for these cute snowflake patterns.

Have a great day,
hugs from
our winter home.

Ciao,

Robin

The Boudoir

This month
Gina's Designs is our partner.
She has sent the designers a wonderful
selections of products to use with
The Robin's Nest Products.

I decided to use one of the boxes that she
sent as my project. The box is a way to create a 3 dimensional
mini room, or mini scene of what your imagination desires.
The original box packet has sewing supplies to go with it.
I decided as I went through all the goodies
she sent to us, to make a room.
As the room started developing, it became
a Boudoir.

The kit came as a box that you put together,
it was simple and I had it glued together in less than 5 minutes.

I then selected my papers that I wanted to use for the
room, and as I was working on the room,
and I selected laser cuts from the packets that
Gina's Designs sent to us.

Robin's Nest Papers used:
Glitter French Vanilla Fleur (fleur on front of box)
Cathedral Paper (Background wall paper)
Valentine Stripe (Chair)
Baroque Paper (Picture on wall)
Glitter Write (dress form) retired paper

Here are close ups of the room.

I covered the Chair.
Glittered the Chandelier
Covered the dress form
Wallpapered the inside of the box
Made a picture frame
Cut out the fleur on the front of the box
Painted the fleur de li
Cut a frame for the outside of the box this is the french vanilla fleur back side.
The urn came from an old sticker called France.

I added mini pearl dew drops on the dress form and the chandelier.
I added Amber Diamond drops, and green diamond drops to the urn.
I added gold mini dew drops on the fleurs.
And added the daffodil original dew drops around the outside of the frame.

Close up of the fleur, and dress form.

Here is the Boudoir again,
I'm not sure where this is going yet,
I have always wanted to create a little mini room. like this,
this is one of my bucket list items.

Enjoy!

Chinese New Year Paper Fortune Cookies

Chinese New Year Paper Fortune Cookies

I love the traditions of Chinese New Year, and many other cultural New Years as well.  This year is the year of the wooden horse, which is perfect for me, since I am a work horse, hehe.

In honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year, I decided to create some Fortune Cookies.

I started with the traditional Chinese colors: red and gold.  The Robin's Nest has a perfect cardstock for this: Classic Gold on Red Glitter Cardstock. (and anything glittered is perfect for a celebration).

1. Use a glass, or anything round, and a tracing utensil, I used a fine point Sharpie.
2. Trace as many round circles as you can onto the cardstock, then, using scissors,  cut the circles out.
3. Fold one of your paper circles in half.
4. Flick the center of the fold, then fold the opposite direction.

5. Place a glue dot in between the second fold, to keep together.
6. Print off Fortune Cookie sayings, I googled "Fortune Cookie Sayings" and found many images, I clicked on the pic, and printed them off of my home printer.
7. Slide the saying in the slot on the top of the paper cookie.
8. Finished! Repeat with the other round cut-outs.

This would be a fun idea for many other events too, birthday parties, Super Bowl (just do the colors of the teams), or just a way to send a cute message to someone.

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!

ONE COLLECTION SAYS IT ALL - AMOUR!

ONE COLLECTION - ONE INCREDIBLE MONTH OF CREATING!

I have to say that I am totally taken with the Wild About U collection this month. It has offered me so many different ideas and ways of using paper, stickers and glitter. I've had so much fun that I just had to share with you some of the cards I made using this collection. I didn't have to make anything more, but seriously, I want to continue sharing with you all the fun things that I've been doing with this collection and hopefully you will be inspired to put this at the top of your "want" list.

Are you starting to see the fun you can have with these products? You can buy as little or as much as you want. There are no commitments, just go shopping and fill up your cart and they have daily/weekly sales.  I really like their glitter letters and who could resist this amazing dress form from our co-sponsor site this month - Gina's Designs.

AND JUST FOR FUN, I MADE THESE FUN CUPCAKE SPIKES - BUT HAVEN'T MADE THE CUPCAKES YET, LOL. BUT WHEN I DO, I'LL MAKE SURE I COME BACK AND SHARE A PHOTO.

Cookie Crazy

Cookie Crazy

I love a good cookie, but what I admire more than a decorated sugar cookie, are the creative people that make all those lovely cookies. So this Valentines day I'm going to try and make some sweet goodness for my family and friends. However, there is NO telling how well my cookies will taste or how pretty they might be, but I know this.....they will be presented in these pretty cookies sleeves that I created for this weeks video. The best part about these sleeves are the fact that you can make two sleeves from one 12X12 piece of paper, you need only a few supplies and they make up really quick.
Here's how I made them.

Wild about You Collection and Gina's Designs

Hi Bev here today. OMG I so enjoyed mixing Robin's Nest Wild about You collection and Gina's Designs. What a perfect fit.. especially with the photos I was working on. I loved the red white combo with the pop of black in the accents.
In the close ups you can see much better.... I inked the embellishments and then added dew drops. Family Alpha was mounted on black glitter paper.

LOVE was inked and mounted to the Robin's Nest Black n Red Journaling Card

This inked butterfly by Gina's Design was mounted on one of her doilys and accented with dew drops.

This page started with the Black n White animal collection and the My Scraps and More Blog sketch #62.
The Wild about You collection is the upper layers.

Your Beautiful in every Way sentiment card was used for part of the title, Inked Butterfly by Gina's Design, diamond shapes dew drops for flight path and some fun twine accent

Fun layers, a scalloped layered border and small pennants.. all giving dimension to the page.

With lots of scraps left I made a few cards.
This one is black glitter base, Wild about You print scraps and I added Kreaxions punching
and also some stickers from the Hot lips tag kit.

Also added some white dew drop accents.

This card boasted some fun pennants on it.. all cut from scraps.

The pennants have some Kreaxions punch accents and also dew drops.

Finished it off with a sentiment and a Gina's Design butterfly accent.
