Christmas Tray

What is it about Christmas that makes the everyday things become something special. Take colors for example. At Christmas, those everyday reds and greens take on a special meaning. That’s why I fell in love with the Robin’s Nest Christmas Collection.

For this project, we have a cross promotion with Walnut Hollow. So I wanted to make a special Christmas scene using their Rectangular Tray and the Christmas Collection.

I decided to create a Christmas montage inside the tray. I used the perfect paper for each square of the montage.

The Flame Glitter Swirl Cardstick and Distressed Trees Specialty Paper create the illusion that you can see stars in the sky and trees upon a hill through the squares, much like peaking through a window. The Cindy Lou Presents Cardstock tells the rest of the story as you can almost see the presents under a Christmas tree.

To finish the edges of the tray I used .5 inch pieces from the Cindy Lou Swirl Glitter Cardstock.

I’ve always loved Thomas Nast’s Christmas illustrations, so of course, I used the Nast Santa image from the Christmas Rob-on package. I put Santa center stage on a large rosette, which will go on the top of the tray. The rosette was made from the striped side of the Cindy Lou Swirl Glitter Cardstock and the beautiful deep green patterned side of the Black and White Pinetree Glitter Cardstock. After adding a few mica flakes around the edge of the Nast Santa image, the rosette was ready to take its place at the center of some berries and pine.

I gathered the pine branches, pinecones and berries, along with a twine ball and a couple of Robin’s Nest Glitter Snowmen.

To finish the scene, I placed the Glitter Snowmen beside the snow white twine ball and a few pinecones at the bottom of the tray. I also added some Ace of Diamonds Dew Drops at the corners.
