There's "Gnome" Place Like Home

Hi everyone! It's me, Tonya, and I'm here to share not one but two projects I created using the Lodge Collection that is one of the Robin's Nest featured products this month. This collection has a real woodsy outdoor feel and I decided since I had a leftover gnome printout from a previous project I was going to do something woodsy and whimsical.

For my first project I took an empty spool that lace had come on added a coat of gesso let dry then paint with brown crackle paint.

I placed the spool on the backside of the Wrap Glitter Cardstock and drew two circles. I then cut out adhered to the top and bottom of the spool. Next I cut from the backside of the Lodge CutOuts Cardstock (its double sided) a strip which I adhered to the base of the spool.

From the Lodge CutOuts Cardstock I cut out the trees and sweet home cutouts. I adhered the trees to the top of the spool. I punched three leaves from Wrap Glitter Cardstock  and shaped and then adhered to the top corner of the trees cutout. Next I fussy cut a gnome out for the top of the spool and glued off to the side of the trees. I added moss around the top of the spool, punched flowers from Pink Glitter Cardstock and Wedding Swirl Glitter Cardstock shaped and  some of the flowers I topped off with Vanilla Dew Drops. The other flowers I added stickles to the center and I added a stem of mini leaves cut from a diecut to complete the look. I used White Dew Drops as little eggs  which I glued inside the nest and then covered with stickles to give the eggs a glittery look.

The sweet home sentiment I glued to a scrap of  Mens Plaid/Compass Cardstock and I adhered some moss to the base and then I glued the corner of the sweet home sentiment to the backside of the moss and I also glued more moss to the other side so the little sign wouldn't flop around. I added flowers I had punched out, Vanilla Dew Drops, stickles and a little red bird from my stash to finish off this whimsical piece.

My next project I used the Wrap Glitter Cardstock Mens Plaid/Compass CardstockVanilla Fleur Glitter Cardstock and various bits of cardstock and cut from the Country Cottage 3D diecut this adorable gnome cottage. I assemble according to the directions. But if you can't find this diecut I have also found a template for the village houses in the Amy Powers' Inspired Ideas online magazine (which is free) that you can printout and use. Also all the templates are in the very back of the magazine.

I fussy cut another gnome out and adhered to the base along with moss, punched out flowers, leaves and dew drops. I added some scraps of Irrecescent Classic Glitter Swirl Vellum to the inside of the windows.

Here's a little surprise…I added a battery operated candle inside the cottage so it looks like the lights are on inside. Pretty cool huh? :-)

If you would like to create either the altered spool or the mini gnome cottage please be sure and stop by the Robin's Nest and pick up the Lodge Collection  which was used on both of these projects. Also if you have any questions about either project please let me know.
