More Scraps of Darkness & The Robins Nest

The next few Wednesdays we will be sharing more of the designers and their work.
Scraps of Darkness featured The Robins Nests papers in their August kit titled "Envy."

Let's meet some more of their designers shall we?
Introducing...
Mandy Harrell
Big Bro

For this layout Mandy wanted a more rugged and distressed look. She still wanted the layout to maintain a sense of beauty and "girlie grunge" if you will. To achieve the look on the edges distressing was used both on the pattern paper and cardstock with a hand held distress tool. The edges were then inked with distress ink and a paint brush dipped in water was brushed along the edges. This achieves a further distressed look with control over the wet distressing technique. Crumpling the papers and bending them inward gives that time worn look.
(Supplies:Robins Nest Paper: Stencil Green, Dusty Attic Chipboard, Maroon Cardstock, Prima Bella Notte Collection, Prima Butterfly, Petaloo Chantilly Collection, Kaisercraft Chanteuse Collection, Tim Holtz Distress Inks.)

Just fishing
When Mandy put this page together she wanted to give it a fancy framed look. The layering began with the cream cardstock with each paper being trimmed down and scalloped along the edges. The inner most layer has the scallop cut edges and is also stitched. Flowers, chippie and butterflies are scattered about with the focus of this layout being on the photo.
( Supplies: Robins Nest Papers: Green Leaves, Ivy Trim, Stencil Green, Cream Cardstock, Lace Trim, Prima Bella Notte Collection, Pink Paislee Mistables, Websters Country Estate Journal Tags, Kaisercraft die cut, Blue Moon trinket, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Ribbon.)

Sometimes the Robin's Nest papers are sooo pretty, I hate to cover them with anything. But these artists show me that you can add photos and embellie and still see the beautiful paper!
