Introducing Scraps of Darkness Kit Club

We are pleased to announce over the next 4 Wednesdays we will be showcasing the "Scraps of Darkness" kit club, introducing you to their designers and sharing the beautiful work they created with papers from The Robins Nest such as: "Whilshire Collection, Botanical Collection, Backyard Awning and Live Brightly Rub Ons."

Without further ado let's meet "Scraps of Darkness!!!"

Melinda Kelly, the owner of Scraps of Darkness, started this kit club as an alternative to "cute, feminine and child centered products" that are often the mainstream in other kit clubs. This club caters to a more  "edgy, alternative, distinctively different" style that most would consider "scrap art."

Scraps of Darkness kits are designed for artists who wish to take scrapbooking to another level. Striving to include the latest and greatest items on the market that will enable the artist to create not "just a layout", but a piece of art.  Don't let the name fool you - while items are included for those who like to create "darker"  layouts, Scraps of Darkness is versatile and you will find encouragement in mediums such as such as Steampunk, Grunge, and Technique based layouts and projects. The designers are all distinctly different and you will be amazed at the wide range of looks they achieve with the same kit!

Each month Scraps of Darkness offers a Main Kit with add ons. Exclusive to Scraps of Darkness are the Floral and Fauna Add on, Romance Add on and the signature "Color Add On." This is in addition to standard paper add ons.
More products and must have items can be found in the on line store. The forums and challenges at Scraps of Darkness are welcoming, fun and hopping!

The August Kit titled "Envy" certainly was something to be envious of if you weren't quick enough to get your hands on it. Featuring the stunning papers exclusive to The Robins Nest; Wilshire Collection, Ivy Trim, Glitter Spa Journey and Live Brightly rub ons!
The designers absolutely loved working with these stunning papers from the Robins Nest and the kit was a quick sell out!

Let's meet the Designers~
Lisa Novogrodski
This layout was created using the Glitter Spa Journey paper shaped to a die cut.  The large flower was created using a Sizzix Pointsetta die and the leaves are Spellbinders dies. Layers were created with a solid cardstock stamped and punched. A Dusty Attic chipboard was painted and added along with a gold brad. The photos were layered and the journaling was done directly on the photo using photoshop.
(Supplies: Robins Nest: Glitter Spa Journey, Cardstock- navy, cream, green, Dusty Attic Chipboard,
Zva Flourishes, Mists, white puffy paint, Martha Stewart Punches, Sizzix and Spellbinders Dies, misc. lace and brads)

This layout was created using Glitter Getaway Swirl Cardstock and Green leaves. The top and sides were punched using a Martha Stewart punch and layered over a piece of cardstock. The green leaves cardstock was punched using a small flower punch and layered at the bottom of the page. A circle was cut on the inside of the background page and punched with a corner punch. Coordinating papers were used as matting behind the photo and punched again with a Martha Stewart punch. A piece of Dusty Attic chipboard was layered with mist and glitter and placed above photo. Finishing touches are a journal tag and butterfly and handmade flower.
( Supplies: Robins Nest- Glitter Getaway Swirl, Green Leaves, Cardstock, Martha Stewart punches, small flower punch, journal tag, Prima butterfly, Dusty Attic chipboard, Mists, stickles, Kaisercraft-posies)
